The De Blasio administration appears to have set its sights on the borough of Queens, now that decimation of what we once knew as Manhattan and Brooklyn is about complete. Fortunately, residents of that borough have learned some lessons, in part by watching what happened during the Bloomberg and now de Blasio years of development-at-any cost. It is now the rule, not the exception, for our mayors to work for private developers--their donors--ahead of the constituents they are supposed to serve. With me are two people intimately involved with the struggle to save Queens, Michael Forest, a founder of the Queens Anti-Gentrification Project and Louis Flores, publisher of Progress Queens.
